Blues Battle

The historic rivalry between Oxford and Cambridge runs deep. So deep that it can no longer be limited to the ski slope and will instead spread out through resort during the week. If you don’t happen to be a blues skier don’t worry! You can represent your University in a giant snowball fight, or by dancing the night away in Malaysia. Whether you’re into swaps or crew dates, or simply want to chill with a beer in front of the Varsity Rugby, you can involved in the most epic Blues Battle ever seen. There’s even the chance to make your bowling score count in this contest, so you’ve no excuse not to join the fight against The Other Place!

Snowball fight

The Battle of the Blues will kick off at 5pm Sunday with the first ever Oxford v Cambridge snowball fight at VarCity. What better way to enjoy a party on the mountain – and get revved up for the Opening Night Party – than to chuck frozen water at your most hated of university rivals.

The Ernst and Young Blues Races

These historic slalom races will take place on Tuesday afternoon. If you’re not quite up to competing then you’ll be able to watch these exciting sprints from the bottom of the Stade piste. Last year saw a dead tie in this contest, so this year both teams will be fighting furiously to break the deadlock.

Silent Disco

We’re sure you’ve seen the magic of the silent discos at numerous college balls, so why not bring in an element of competition? See the best Oxbridge DJs battle it off on the decks in the biggest club in the Alps – Malaysia. Who wins? You decide. Will you stick to your loyalties or will you switch channels if the music’s better?

Crewdate vs Swap

Looking for the entertainment of the mountain meal without breaking the bank? Say no more, this year we are providing for everyone in one of our most prized Blues Battles. We are arranging to bring one of our most fabled traditions from Oxbridge to the Alps: the (in)famous Crewdate/Swap (depending on your terminology…). This will be the biggest Crewdate/Swap you will ever go to, and the perfect way to begin an Oxbridge-style night out.

Varsity Rugby

The Varsity Rugby match is traditionally a key blues battlefield during the week of Varsity Trip. We bring it to you in style, in one of VT’s best bars with a huge screen and lots of space for chants and ‘banter’. This will be on the Thursday of the trip, kicking off in the early afternoon before the Final Night Party.

Bowling

If you tire of skiing at any point in the week head up to the bowling alley. There you’ll have the chance to log your top score on behalf of your University, with the winner receiving a fantastic prize. You'll want to get a bowling wristband to practice for this contest, which will be running throughout the week, with a final playoff on Thursday after the Rugby.
